Formatting text and photos

I can’t get text and photos to format correctly. I have tried the hard break — shift-Return — but that doesn’t seem to work either. I want to have a photo, then some text alongside, and then the next photo below it. WordPress seems to move it up alongside the prior photo no matter how many breaks I put in.

    Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but Karim is out of the office!

I went and took a look at the page you sent in, and it looks like the images at the top of the screen are behaving how you said you wanted them to. They are wrapped around each of the images as they go. Do you not want the text to be wrapped around the photos? Instead do you want it to be a photo and THEN text and then photo and then text?

    Let me know!

I want them all to behave like the ones at the top — left aligned and text alongside. But if there is a new heading, I want that to fall below the photo above.

    Does this make sense?

OK, so you mean something like this:

    http://scopehealth.org/scope-at-upc/?preview=true&preview_id=2559&preview_nonce=f183003973

In the section under the heading “What is the situation in Ethiopia regarding HIV/AIDS?”

If so, then that is a setting in the image itself. You can change it by hovering over the image and you will see two icons, one that looks like a post card and one like the international no symbol. Select the post card and you’ll see the image options. Under the preview window, you have several word wrap options. Select “None,” and there will be no word wrap for the image!

No — I don’t see that anything has changed. I want all the bold section heads left-aligned. I want all the photos left-aligned and none side-by-side.

OK, if you want all of the photos to be left aligned, then you can do as I described and make sure that each photo does not have word wrapping enabled and in the Visual Editor hard return each image down until they do not overlap with each other. You can also remove any that are next to each other and start fresh: make sure that once one photo is in, you go down a space and then insert the next.
