Formatting text in boxes not working
-
No matter what I try, the formatting in the Edit page disappears in the actual WP page.
I started out with a 3-column spreadsheet. I copied it to Word and used Word to convert it to text. I pasted portions of it to the page I was editing, and the nicely tabbed text reduced to one space, i.e., there was only 1 space between the entries. I pasted the converted text to TextEdit, then copied and pasted to the edit page.
After saving each try, the result was the same: one space only, rather than a tab.
1) How do i format text in the box?
2) I would like to add tabs for spacing. How can I do that?Seems that this is a major problem in the new Gutenberg, which, overall, I actually like. There is something basic I am not understanding.
My page is: https://nbstearmans.com/timeline-of-stearmans-in-new-brunswick-and-other-provinces-1952-to-1973/1955-2/
Scroll down 3/4 to “List of Stearman aircraft …”.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you tried using the columns block as described in this support document?

Yes, an obvious choice, but I found that the rows were too high and the whole table took up too much space. Really, the single-line text is much neater. I can put it all in one box by doing shift-return, as suggested by someone in a earlier post.
Using List gives me the proper line spacing, but I don’t want the bullets.
I guess I can give columns a try to see how it looks. Formerly, I had to construct tables using html: <row…</row> etc. Horrible!
However, I would really like to add tabs to space out the words into “columns”. In fact, I would like to be able to format text in each box the way you can in MSWord. All I am able to do now to text in WordPress is bold or italics.
