formatting totally messed up

Checked my blog earlier today and all was well, but when I logged on tonight, the formatting was all messed up. I checked to see if I’d lost my theme, but it said it was current and active. Will somebody else check and see if the formatting looks right, or if everything is appearing flush left and type is running all the way across the page? Bleh. It looks awful! I won’t be getting any more visitors unless I can resolve this! I am running Win7 and Firefox. have not had any problems until now.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Looks fine to me using Chrome. Try doing a cache clear, and restart the computer.

I’m having the same issue! When I add pictures, they appear in random places and often the captions will include the text in the blog (the text from that point to the end of the article in the caption). I’ve tried everything I can think of. I originally that that perhaps it was because I recently upgraded to IE 9.0. But I reverted back to 8.0 and am still having the same issues. It’s maddening.

Also, now I notice I can’t find the publish or preview buttons any longer when I’m in edit mode (also missing the category selection, etc.)

    Does anyone have any ideas?

@crpack, while in the editor, go to the screen options tab at upper right of that window and set the page to show two columns. Then scroll down past the bottom of the text area and drag the publish, categories and tags back up and to the right of the text area. Move them around until a grey outlined box appears and then release the mouse button. For some reason there are random blogs where this setting seems to have changed on its own.

For the text getting put in with the captions, this is an issue where the cursor happens to actually be within the caption section of the code when you add text or insert another image. Go to settings > writing and click the check box to have WordPress automatically correct invalid nested XHTML and then click the save changes button. This setting is not a perfect fix, but it will typically catch and fix most issues.

One thing I do when inserting images with captions is to insert the image and then switch to the HTML tab and put the cursor after the code for the image and caption, press return and then type in just a few letters. I then switch back to the visual editor, highlight those few letters and then continue writing.

There have been reports of various issues with inserting images not working properly over the past few days and I’m not entirely sure why. Perhaps staff have done some upgrades in the back end.

With IE8, while in the editor window, set compatibility view to on. That generally takes care of the IE8 issues. IE8 is sort of schizophrenic, and I don’t think staff have yet caught up with all the IE9 bugs.
