Formatting Troubles – Please help!
-
I have been having the same problem on two separate blogs. I write my posts in Word and then transfer them to wordpress. often when i click save it changed the paragraph’s formatting and deletes spaces between paragraphs – any idea why? what am i doing wrong?

@taltalk
WORD is horrible blogging choice to make because it contains all kinds of extra stuff for the formatting which simply gets stripped out by wordpress.com programming.If you are not a “techie-geeky” person and all you want to do is blog, and if do not have a strong inclination to use html coding or to learn how to use it then I have some “throw-away” advice for you.
(1) turn off the visual rich text editor and use the ordinary one instead
-> dashboard -> users -> your profile (find the check box that says “Use the visual rich editor when writing” and uncheck it) -> click update profile
(2) Go to the net and download a free copy of the off-line editor called BlogDesk. You can use it to do your formatting in by just clicking buttons. You type plain and simple without any coding and BlogDesk will upload your articles to your blog for you supplying all the required html code. It’s designed for use with wordpress and other blogging platforms, it’s easy to use, and using it means you will always have a back-up copy of everything you post. Here’s the link http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htmNow if that proves not to be your “cup of tea” and you do want to use the visual rich text editor then don’t use WORD as your word processing program first. Switch to a text only editor Notepad (not Wordpad) and start using html code http://www.web-source.net/html_codes_chart.htm
This is a controversial topic so without doubt a WORD lover will jump in and tell you all kinds of sophisicated work-arounds for continuing to use WORD. What’s the point of using a program that has to be worked around?

Thanks! Actually, I know html, I just am new to blogging (2 days) so I a bit unknowledgeable… Thanks (again) for the help. I use Word only because when I posted straight in the blog and it didn’t save the post, I lost my info.
Have a good one!

You might want to expand on that as we can’t help you unless you do so.
Posting from Word is not recommended as it produces MS’s own version of HTMl that doesn’t work in many different browsers.

You could use ctrl v and copy every post to the clipboard so if something does go wrong with the upload you do have a copy.

Thanks y’all. I think i’ll be okay, but i’ll surely be back if i have any more questions.
