Formatting weirdness
-
Formatting is messing up even when I use the old version. Using the old version helped for a few posts. But doesn’t prevent the problem any more. The width of the text body is made artificially narrow. How do I revert to the width it should be. Again, already using the old version (as the new version caused this problem previously).
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What do you mean by old version? Old version of what? Are you referring to using the new BEEP BEEP BOOP editor https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-post-editor-improvements?replies=11

I think so. I was told to revert to the classic version when this issue happened before. But now that doesn’t work. And from the link you sent, it does not appear that formatting is a bug they fixed in the new version.

Are you copying and pasting from a word processing program like Microsoft WORD which is not web compliant? If you are then the Visual Row 2 icon 5 http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text produces a plain text copy with all formatting removed. That was changed by Staff way back in March when the copy from Word button was removed. Now we have to format each post.
Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. If you want to learn how to format and space your posts and pages see:
http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/09/13/wordpress-formatting-and-spacing/
See also: http://en.support.wordpress.com/advanced-html/P.S. When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It’s in the Visual editor Row 2 first position “style”. See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.

not copying and pasting. Typing directly into new post box. Haven’t changed the format tool. It’s the same as it has always been. I’m sure it was on paragraph as always.
-
I never ever use the new post editor. I use only the classic editor and use the instructions I posted and I don’t have any issues at all. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff response. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Please remove beep beep boobs permanently from my blogs. I have no use for this nuisance.

Hi there!
The width of the text body is made artificially narrow.
I just took a look at your two latest posts. If you open them in the Text editor, you’ll see that they both start with this code:
<div class="entry-content">Remove that and the ‘div’ tag at the very end of the post and your formatting will be back to normal. This isn’t dependent on which editor you’re using, but is something that would happen when you copy and paste content. I’m not sure how this would happen if you’re just typing straight into the editor.
@brechbuehl – you can opt out of the new editor by using the “Switch to classic editor” link at the bottom of the sidebar.

Thank you – That helped! To clarify, I am either typing straight into the text box or cutting and pasting sections from other posts, but not from another program like Word. I understood the other commenter to say that only if I am copying from another program such as Word, it would not ‘translate’ properly.
Now I know that if I do cut and paste, even from the blog itself, I just can go to text mode and delete those little codes. So thank you very much for your help!!

I’m happy to help! Those div tags are likely being carried over when you copy and paste content from other web pages.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!
