    Is there a way to adjust the size and shadow of the featured image on my home page? The goal is to have a few pictures alternating but we would like the height to be a bit bigger.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    The simple and direct answer is no. That requires editing the HTML and/or PHP underlying your theme and we wordpress.COM bloggers cannot access and edit those files.

    I have not, but very helpful thank you for sharing. I think I found a solution, I’m no expert coder but it looks like this is a simple fix that solves my particular problem. Gives me a little extra height without having to have more text.

    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>
    <p style=”text-align: right;”></p>

    <span style=”color: #ffffff;”>

    Hi there, you can adjust the opacity on the overlay on the featured image on your main page with the following CSS.

    #hero.has-background .overlay, #primary-header .overlay, .page-header.has-featured-image .overlay {
        opacity: 0.75;
    }

    The closer you get to 0, the less opaque the overlay, the closer to 1, the more opaque.

    Thank you very much, this worked perfectly

    Hi, using empty paragraphs, as you discovered above does work, but I would suggest against that. Not sure what effect that would have in search engines, and they seem to be getting pickier all the time.

    Glad that worked for you, and you are welcome.
