Forum Subscription Bug

EDIT: Second to last paragraph – second sentence replace with:

I mean why have a blog when everything can be done in the Reader,
except archiving the posts that never got any page view stats, because they were read and commented on and promoted from and reblogged from and chatted about in the Reader?

  • Thanks TT for referring folks to the mega-thread. We’ll distill the feedback and send it back to the team too.

With page views, now, when the full post is read in the Reader (in stream or the popup), it will count as a view with a WP.com Reader referral, unless the blog owner has set their Settings->Reading set to only so summaries in feeds.

Thanks as always for your feedback and help with folks expressing their own feedback.

Right and those of us who choose to provide a summary in their RSS feeds so they don’t have to waste their time pursuing feed scrapers and filing DMCA take down notices now have this passive aggressive ” “Sorry this blog allows us only to show the first section of the post. Read full post (link) …”

As one of my commenter said that amounts to” blaming the blogger, as if they’re preventing this wonderful Reader feature from reaching its full potential.”

So how about just sending us to the blog with they have summery set up?

Just open in a new window / tab like it did before – I very much resent the current middle finger “Sorry….only summery……more” as @TT notes that is blame the blogger crap – then when I come back I still have the junk pop-up to close

Maybe Jennifer has the right idea – just move to a new reader off WordPress.COM

  • They’ve deployed some changes, including now the timestamp in the “stream” view is the permalink to the post. Clicking on the title still opens the pop-up with the full-text view, but you don’t have to click through there to get to the actual post URL anymore.

They’ve also added back the “xxx more words” and the headline was changed to have a lower line-height value than the “old Reader” did, so it should be more compact.

    Have a nice evening!
