Forum volunteers responding to modlook tagged threads

    Howdy,

    I wanted to share some confusion that I am currently facing and seek feedback on it. I’m here to learn in any case. :)

    At the beginning of my volunteer activity here I read through the pinned threads in yellow. Among them is one titled “A note to our volunteers“, written by @kokkieh, in which one can find the following:

    We’ve noticed recently that someone appears to be indiscriminately modlooking threads that have no replies, whether they are for issues that require staff help or not.

    While we’re happy to check all these threads, if you feel you know the answer and are able to help with such a thread, please feel free to reply so the user can get the help they need faster.

    Then again, yesterday I received a kind remark from staff-mckluskey saying:

    no need to reply to threads that already had the modlook tag added

    It took me a day, I admit it, but it occurred to me after realizing this to ask for guidance over here.

    How should I -or we- proceed regarding modlook‘d threads?
    Is the pinned thread’s content up-to-date or otherwise?
