Hi there,
There are several forum options out there that can be installed via a plugin. However, we would personally recommend bbPress (what this forum is created from). There are various options to choose from:- bbPress – the most popular option. It’s 100% free and has a vibrant marketplace of third-party extensions that let you add tons of features to your community forum.
- P2 – a service from WordPress.com that’s aimed more towards businesses or teams looking to collaborate in a forum-like interface.
- wpForo – a popular option with a free core version and then a number of premium add-ons from the developer.
- Asgaros Forum – another option that’s 100% free, though it lacks the large third-party extension marketplace that you get when choosing bbPress.
The use of plugins require the Business Plan. In addition to plugin access, you receive 200 GB of media library storage, real-time backups, live chat support, sFTP access, no ads, Premium Themes, and much more:

Many thanks… that answers my query well. So I don’t need to get a hosting for it as well/ it’s a WordPress.com site?

You wouldn’t need to get additional hosting for it. But you would need to upgrade to the Business plan to install the bbPress plugin here on WordPress.com.
