Forums and File shares

  So I have a forums section on my website. That was easy.

  What I want to be able to offer “members” is the ability to make a forum post and upload a file that can be seen by all members looking in that subforum.

  The idea is that I have an off road and overlanding site. The current way that off-roaders share GPS files is to email them to each other. So if userA has been to trailA and made a GPS route fil for that ride I want them to be able to easily either put the file into the subforum category or have a way that a forum member can see all of the other users GPS files.

  Hey Mike! I recommend checking in with support for whatever forums plugin you’re using. If they don’t have that feature built in somehow, they may well know of a plugin that adds that functionality.

  Going forward, these forums are for the sites hosted here on our servers. If you use other hosting, there is another forum for the free WordPress software. You can find that here:

  Also, just generally speaking, when you’re inviting people to upload things to your site, there’s just a little more potential vulnerability. You’ll want to be sure your plugin is frequently updated for any security issues. That, or make sure you keep regular backups and security scans so you can catch any potential issues.
