Forward masking my godaddy domain to my WordPress.com website

I am having problems forward masking my go daddy domain to my WordPress.com website (free template). I have spoken with go daddy technical support and all looks good at that end. It seems that I can only communicate with WordPress if I purchase an upgrade. Would this be correct?

    Hi,

You will need ‘Domain Mapping’ to do that on the WordPress.com side. That is available with an upgrade plan (more about plan upgrades: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

You can even move your domain name to WordPress.com with the upgrade.

    Hi microlivingaustralia,

As @yoga1103 mentioned, your existing domain will need to be connected to WordPress.com with domain mapping:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

This process is a two way connection — the domain needs to be pointing to WordPress.com and mapping needs to be present on our side. Once that has been set up, visitors will see the existing domain in their browser’s address bar rather than microlivingaustralia.wordpress.com.

Domain mapping is a feature of paid plans so you will need to upgrade. The Personal plan is the cheapest option if you are upgrading primarily to map a domain.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
