Forward-scheduling backdated posts

I understand that by entering a past date by clicking “edit” on “Publish immediately”, one can backdate a post. However the post would be then immediately published on the site, albeit with a backdate.

I’d like to be able to schedule backdated posts for publication in the future.

How can this be done in WordPress?

This is not possible. You can either backdate a post in which case it will immediately appear on the blog showing the past date, or schedule a post to publish at a future date in which case it will appear on that date showing that date.
