Forwarding my domain to wordpress
-
I’ve read numerous post stating different things about domain forwarding and I still have no answer.
Plain and simple I own http://www.eastofhollywood.net from Godaddy.com. I am also making a blog with wordpress.com (http://eastofhollywood.wordpress.com/)
I would like my East of Hollywood dot net domain to forward to my wordpress blog. In my GoDaddy account settings I already entered in http://eastofhollywood.wordpress.com/ as the forwarding address. I’ve waited the 48 hours yet nothing has happened. I am wondering if it is something to do with my wordpress? I read something about buying an upgrade for my wordpress account, however I feel as if there is no need?
Help would be greatly appreciated

I think what you would want to do is to use domain mapping here to make your blog appear with your eastofhollywood.net URL.
This support document covers the domain mapping upgrade and what is involved: http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/ .

So I would have to pay an additional 10 dollars to have my “free” blog appeared on the domain I already purchased?
That just doesn’t seem right

I don’t see what’s not right? You have a free blog with all the features available and very few upgrades that add additional functions. Domain mapping and audio/soundfile uploading just happen to be some of them.

First, you can call GoDaddy support and ask them why the forwarding isn’t working. They can probably help you. This forum is not for GoDaddy support.
If you have hosting from GoDaddy (which is about $5 per month), you can use the automatic installer on GoDaddy to install WordPress on your own domain. It’s very easy. If you can’t find it, call GoDaddy support and they will walk you through it. You can export the content from your wordpress.com blog to your hosted blog.

I posted the above post on GoDaddy support as well. I figured posting on both support forums would be killing to birds with one stone. After reading the Domain Mapping FAQs I realized that is not what I need. I am looking for GoDaddy Domain Forwarding and you are correct the answer will be coming from there site
Thanks for the help though

You can just call their toll free support number and they will tell you how to do it for free.
