forwarding old domain to new domain name.

I would like to change the primary domain and have it forwarded to a new domain that i purchased thru godaddy.com and I don’t know how to have it forwarded. Can you please help me or point me in the right direction. I’ve already added the domain baggingbargains.com to “my domains” but it won’t allow for it be the primary domain and calicouponcrazy.com to be forwarded.

  • Hi there, I’m glad to help with this, but I’d first like to clarify your goal.

Did you create a new site elsewhere, at baggingbargains.com (I don’t see anything there yet) that you’d like to send visitors to when they visit calicouponcrazy.com? In other words, are you giving up your calicouponcrazy.wordpress.com site and you’d like people to reach baggingbargains.com when visiting your old domain name?

If so, you’ll need a Site Redirect upgrade instead of a domain mapping one, and I’d be glad to make the switch for you since they cost the same.

Please confirm that this is what you’d like to do, or whether you had another end goal in mind. Thanks!

No I simply want to update the primary domain on my blog to a new one. the domain for my blog with wordpress is calicouponcrazy.com and i want it to be BaggingBargains.com I don’t want to terminate my blog with wordpress. It’s not letting me update the primary domain it’s saying there is something wrong with the DNS.

  • Thanks for clarifying what you’re trying to do.

Your domain baggingbargains.com is currently pointing to GoDaddy’s name servers. In order to map it to your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to log into your domain registration control panel and update the name servers to:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

Please be sure to first read our guide to mapping an existing domain – especially the heads-up about any email accounts you may have on the domain.

Once you do that and give it a little time – a few hours up to 24-48 hours in some cases – for the DNS update to propagate throughout the Internet, you’ll be able to update your primary domain.

If you need further help, just let me know.
