Forwarding traffic from previous wordpress.com blog

I recently changed my wordpress.com blog name to something more relevant (from ssbxvm.wordpress.com to driedhumor.wordpress.com), but I didn’t realize that when I changed the name the previous site name would be deleted and I would lose all my blog traffic (i was in a hurry when I did it, doh). Is there any way of forwarding traffic from the previous wordpress.com blog name, or any way to make sure it can be found on Google? Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I’ve searched the forums for about an hour and have found nothing to answer my question.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All your site content will have to be reindexed by the search engines under the new URLs and that can take about 4 months time. All those who click the old URLs to the same content will experience a 404 (page not found) and Google only clears their caches every 3 – 6 months.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. :( Publish frequently to get search engine attention. If you publish every day or nearly every day for a month I bet that your content will be reindexed quickly. Here are the 10 factors that tend to expedite indexing of your content.

The instructions for this do not make clear the ramifications. We run into people having this problem several times a day.
