[Franklin] Change front page to display post summary (instead of full post)
-
The default theme seems set to display the full posts in the front page. Is there any way I can change the settings to have the front page display the summary (from excerpt)?
Hosted wordpress.com, but no custom CSS.
Thanks

Hi,
I see More tags on all of the posts on the front page. More tags is the way to go on themes which do not automatically display post excerpts on the posts page.
There is a list, provided by sixhours, of themes which automatically display post excerpts in the forum topic Theme with automatic excerpts, but the topic and the list are both a couple of years old.

Thanks musicdoc1.
Yes I’m using MORE tags as a workaround now, and hoping the theme can be config to show excerpts / summary. But since you mentioned some themes do not necessarily do so, then I’m okay to go with the MORE tags for now.

@ aucheekeong,
You’re welcome. But since you mentioned some themes do not necessarily do so…
Yes, in fact most themes do not do so. The post by staff member sixhours, in the topic “Theme with automatic excerpts,” which I cited in my previous post here, precedes the list of themes with post excerpts on the posts page with the following statement:
Fair warning, any of these could change in the future — we’ve moved strictly to displaying full content and requiring users use the “More” tag to truncate content.
