  I am concerned. I received an e-mail from a non-WordPress address asking me to confirm my e-mail and threatening to put my account on hold until I “verified my e-mail address. ” Was this in fact from you?

  There seems to be a bunch of this going around. WordPress.com seems to have changed the way payments are done for domain name registration payments. But the email does not come from WordPress.com and seems to be very confusing.

  Thanks for letting us know. That email is generated by our domain registrar and is indeed legitimate. We understand it’s confusing and are working on a way to better display this email to our users.
