Fraudulent or misleading advertising

  • Unknown's avatar

Why does WordPress serve up very misleading or possibly illegal adverting? Here’s one example”Earn $7,400 + per hour” another “This fruit eats belly fruit. lose 17lbs in a week”!
I would love to post a picture but can’t.
Can the WordPress site control the type of advertising – I know there needs to be some.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Typo “This fruit eats belly fat. lose 17lbs in a week”!

  • Hi –

That doesn’t sound like an ad we would serve.

Is there a report this ad option when you see them? Please use that.

Also, take a screen shot the next time you see it so we can also have a look. Since we don’t see such ads from our end it makes me think that this is something localized to your set up.

Let me know what device, operating system, and browser are also being used when the ad is visible.

Thank you for the quick reply
Firefox, Windows 10 Pro, HP desktop
I did submit the ad report. Unfortunately I didn’t know how to attach an clip of the screen to my post.

I wouldn’t mind the ads so much if they were normal ads for normal stuff like phones or cars. The ads displayed these days are really poor and annoying as the same one usually displays twice in a post as well as again in a sidebar. I’ve seen the “get rich quick” ad regularly. In my case it is £7472 per hour! My pet hates are the numerous gross “medical” ones such as mentioned above and also the “Diabetics: How to lower blood sugar” one (as I can’t work out what the image is. Looks like sheep s**t) and “If you have Ear Ringing do this immediately”.

  • The screen shot can get linked here with a third party like snag.gy or added directly to your site’s media library. Let me know if you add it to the media library and I’ll take a look.
