Fraudulent Payment £148 – Cancel!
-
Hi,
You have just charged me £148 which I have flagged with my bank as a fraudulent payment.
I gave no permission to pay that my account even says a Free account and has been unused. Please reverse the payment ASAP. Appalling behaviour in a COVID pandemic.
Kind Regards,
Tim -
If you don’t know what that charge is about, you can check it at https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/.
All paid wordpress.com plans are on autorenewal. WordPress.com sends several emails to email address connected to that account.
By disputing that charge at your bank, you blocked every refund.

Hi Tim,
It looks like you were charge for the auto-renewal for plan Premium and domain registration for runningwithdata.co.uk. All subscriptions on WordPress.com renew automatically unless you cancel them.
I can see you have already opened a dispute – once it’s open, we can’t refund anything. If you prefer, you can cancel the dispute and let us know; we’ll then be able to cancel your subscriptions and issue a refund on our end.
If you’d like to read more about disputes, have a look here:

Hi,
But my site had no reference to a premium plan, it even told me to upgrade to premium and that I was on a FREE account plan (left side bar)!
I have raised disputes on both Paypal and Amex, which would you like me to cancel the dispute on so that you can process my refund?
If you can guarantee that I will be payed in-full of £148, without any charge back fee, then I will cancel the dispute so that you can process.
Thanks

Hi there,
If you’re able to contact your bank or credit card company and ask them to cancel the dispute and they haven’t refunded the charge yet, we’ll be able to remove the chargeback fee and issue you a refund which would take up to 7-10 business days. However, if the chargeback has already been completed, i.e. your bank is refunding you, then you will need to pay the fee to unlock your site and disputes can take a long time, so you could possibly not receive your refund from them for up to 75 days. Please let me know if you’re able to cancel the dispute with your bank.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Hi,
The dispute has been cancelled and the refund has not been charged, so please can you now issue a refund.
Thanks,

Hi there,
We’re still waiting for PayPal’s response on the status of the dispute. Once we hear back from we’ll let you know and then proceed accordingly.
-
Hi,
Paypal sent me an email at at 12.32 saying the case was resolved. This should already be with you.
I will check back shortly. This has been so frustrating…

PayPal has not yet reported the resolution to us, we will not be able to proceed until they do. This can sometimes take a few days.
-
Hi,
Just checking in on this. Is has Paypal confirmed with you of case resolution? I have checked with Paypal and it says case is resolved.
-
We’ve been notified by PayPal that your dispute was closed and the payment was returned to us, so I have just refunded it. You should see this refund in about 5-10 business days (if not already), and your refund may appear on your PayPal account and not the credit card itself.
