  I recived an emal confirming that my account had been set up, but I have not requested this, and can find no way to close this. I want to close this.

  Someone likely just used your email address as a fake address to setup an account.

  While we do not delete accounts at this time, you can effectively shut down the entire account by following the steps which are listed right here:
