  Hi, sorry but I thought I was trying to set up a simple website on the free plan but as I go through the options a page comes up saying it will cost £84 a year… what am I doing wrong?

  If you require a custom domain you need a paid plan, but a cheaper Personal plan would be sufficient. You can create a free site by registering a free .blog or .wordpress.com subdomain instead.
