  Your ad stated that it was free that is not true because before I can get started I have to aspect one of the plans.

  WordPress.com has different plans with different features. While you can definitely pick a free WordPress.com plan and get started, depending on your needs, you can upgrade to higher plans as mentioned on this page. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  Hi daphines13,

  daphinesblog.wordpress.com is currently using the Free plan. However, certain features like custom domains are only available through our paid plans:

  https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  If you tried to add a custom domain (example.com) when creating the site, you would have been prompted to choose a paid plan.

  You can continue using the Free plan for as long as you wish though :)
