  hi,

  I have a domain via godaddy but for some reason this website is not allowing me to continue with mapping it without paying?

  I do not want to pay until I have had a look what WordPress is like. What do I do?

  You can build a site over at GoDaddy or you can create a free site here at WordPress.com to work on for as long as you wish. When you’re ready you can upgrade to a paid plan here to enable you to map your existing domain to that site.
