    why cant I use the free account? the option is never there

    Do you mean you don’t see an option to choose a free .wordpress.com domain when you try to create a site?

    When you’re on the page of the site creation process where you give a keyword or site name, the two very top suggested sites (the two ones highlighted in boxes at the top) are generally going to be paid domains like .blog or .com, but the first domain in the list below those will always be a free .wordpress.com domain.

    If I’m misunderstanding your issue, perhaps you could explain more about your problem.
