Free account domain name
-
I have had WP blog in the past and normally the URL would be something like site name.wordpress.com however on creating a new one I get site name 2174789719.wordpress.com and an option to buy a domain name.
Can I remove all those numbers at the end of the domain or is that a way to monetize it if you have a free account?
Thanks
Steve
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, you won’t be able to register evestory.wordpress.com as that subdomain has already been taken.
Option: You can try leaving a comment on that site and see if the site owner would be willing to transfer the site to your account. If they are willing, they can follow this guide https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/ If they don’t reply or are unwilling, nothing further can be done.
Other option: You can register using a different dotblog subdomain. There are many available and the likelihood of yours being taken is small. Have a look here: https://wordpress.com/blog/2018/11/28/announcing-free-dotblog-subdomains/ The screenshots there are a little out of date, but the process is the same.
Hope that helps.

Hi there,
Just a note that you don’t need to create another site. You can just change the address of the site you’ve already created as explained at https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/
But you won’t be able to change to evestory.wordpress.com. That address already exists, so it’s not available for anyone else to register in any way.
