  Hello WordPress: I thought I could set up a free blog using WordPress, but by step 5, I am asked to purchase a plan for a particular web address. I thought I could get a free blog to start with using an address with a .wordpress address? Am I confused?

  Hello,

  You should be able to create a free blog by going to your My Sites tab, click Switch site, and then Add New Site.

  When you get to the, Give your site an address, screen the first two (and largest) options you see are if you want to pay for and use a custom domain. The third option, directly below the first two, will display the free yoursitenamehere.wordpress.com domain.
