  Is WordPress not free anymore? I’m trying to create a BLOG FOR FREE and it keep sending me to buy a plan. Why?

  You can create a free blog on WordPress.com and purchasing domain name is optional.

  It seems you were trying to select a custom domain name while trying to register your free blog instead of accepting the domain name that ended with .wordpress.com
