Free CSS upgrade

I know the reason CSS editing is a paid uprgade, but wouldn’t it be nice to do it for free? Since many blogging companys (like blogger) have a ad section on your sidebar. you could “enable CSS editing” and a ad would show up on your site, and you could edit CSS. If you didn’t want to edit CSS, you would just not enable it and there wouldn’t be an ad. There could still be a paid upgrade though to use CSS without an ad.
If you like it or dislike it, tell me since i would like to know your opinion

Ads are already in use at random just for the ability to use WP for free.

The CSS upgrade fee is to help pay for WP.com operations, just like all of the other fees.

At any rate, soliciting for opinions on the forum won’t help any. You may submit any ideas, feedback, etc, to Automattic by using the Support links found throughout the site (usually at the top, but sometimes on the bottom, too).

first off, this isn’t soliciting. i was just wondering what people thought of my idea. Second of all, there could just be a second ad on a site that already has an ad on it. wordpress would still get the money to fund their services.

You think wordpress just puts the one adblock on our pages? Would that it were so.

The ability to edit CSS is a paid upgrade for two reasons: a) it brings in a small amount of revenue and b) Automattic could not cope with the support requests that would flood in if this was a standard feature. (Even if people were told the feature was unsupported, they’d send support requests in anyway, because that is what people are like.)

thats true wank. in this case, i will bag that idea. i was just wondering what people thought of my idea

bd113: You should learn the meaning of “soliciting” before denying it. That word doesn’t always mean begging for money.

To seek to obtain by persuasion, entreaty, or formal application

That means explicitly asking for it.

tell me since i would like to know your opinion

That comes down to… soliciting opinions.

  • Unknown's avatar

note that it means “explicitly” asking. just saying “i would like to know your opinion” doesn’t mean “explicit”. now if i said it 10 times, it would be.

    You explicitly asked.
“Repeatedly” is a whole different word.
