  I joined WordPress for a free website and now realise that I have to sign up for a year to get my website up and running. I cannot afford the yearly fee, so can I take my domain somewhere else?

  Hi @thecalmandhappyplace, you have a paid domain currently, and you can point your domain wherever you’d like.

  Here’s how to update its name servers:
  https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/#changing-name-servers-to-point-away-from-wordpress-com

  Here’s how to transfer the domain, once it’s 60 days old:
  https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
