  it is possible to register a free domain on WordPress.com, but to do so you will need to upgrade to the yearly (not monthly) option on any of our plans. They all include a free domain (for the first year) and also will disable the ads we show on our free sites to help cover our cost.

  Once you have upgraded you can let us know and we are happy to check that your domain is available to register to your account. You are also welcome to tell us a bit more about the kind of site you are trying to set up, and we can suggest which plan is the best fit for your needs. You are setting up a site for your business?
