Free Domain Name

  Hi, I have just registered to set up a blog.

  I would love to use the free domain name teachershare.wordpress.com but I have been given on with a lot of numbers.

  This would mean that someone else already as the domain I wish to have.

  When you type teachershare.wordpress.com it simply says that the site is private and nothing is there. Is there a way I can get this domain as the person who currently has it clearly isn’t using it?

  Hi there,

  We do not currently recycle blogs for users. The only way to claim that blog is to contact the owner and have them agree to transfer the site over to you. As they are the owner, they will have say over what will happen to the site, even if it is a neglected site.

  Normally you could leave a comment on their blog or if they have a contact form, you can submit a message that way. However, since it’s a private blog and in accordance with our Privacy Policy, we cannot release information on our users, so you would need to choose an alternative domain to use for your site.

  With any of our paid plans, you can purchase a domain to use for your site or if you already own a domain you want to use, you can map it to your WordPress.com site and you wouldn’t need to use the long URL you were assigned.
