Free Domain only free for first year?

  Hi, I just purchased a WordPress plan and is offered a free domain name. Is this domain name free every year if I continue to renew my annual WordPress plan? (Meaning no additional charges for domain name in the future aside from annual subscription for the WordPress plan only.) Or is it only free for the first year of my WordPress plan.

  “When you registered your domain (e.g. yourgroovydomain.com) with WordPress.com, you purchased the right to use that domain name for a year. If you’d like to continue using it after the first year, you’ll need to renew it annually.”
