Free for 1st year, then $19

    I am in the middle of the form to request my domain. When I first got to the page, it said Free for 1st year, then $19 per year.

    At this point, I just want the domain name and a forwarding domain. I don’t intend to have a page or anything at this point. I’m just getting started.

    Do I have to purchase a hosting plan?

    Hi Diane,

    Domain without a paid plan is no longer an option on WordPress.com. So, the price of the domain is included with a paid plan for the first year, and then it’s in addition to the cost of the plan for the following years. For example, purchasing the Personal Plan would cost $48 for the first year and then $48 for the Plan + $19 for the domain after that.
