Free Option of Website Not Available

Hi,
I signed up for the free website option however, when I go to launch my site only paying options are offered. I don’t know anyone who has had this happen before, can someone explain why this is happening?

It should only take a few more clicks if you have already created a free site with a subdomain ending in .blog or wordpress.com. Make sure that after clicking the “Launch site” button that you leave blank the field at the top that says “Enter a name or keyword”. Instead just click on “skip purchase” at the bottom right next to your new free address and then click on continue with free at the top on the next page.

Thanks for the response! The problem is, every time I do that, it takes me to another payment page and tells me to choose a payment plan.

I am having the exact same problem. They should advertise a free option and let users waste time creating a website only for them to have to pay to launch it. Very disappointed I wasted hours.

If you’ve already created a free site you don’t have to pay for a custom domain if you don’t want to. You simply launch your free site. Are you positive you don’t see your free address. See:

I have the same problem, and I don’t see the “skip purchase” button. The last thing in the list is “use a domain I own” and beyond that there’s only “show more results”.

@vvvanesssa, @thegracedelvecchio are you using any browser extensions, like AdBlock? Try to disable those and see if the “Not sure yet?” button appears there. Alternatively, you can try using a different browser.
