I attempted to launch my blog/site and learned I have to pay for it? Is that correct?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, when you go to launch your site, type something in the line on the domains screen and then you’ll see your free .wordpress.com address with the Skip Purchase option at the bottom of that page. From there keep following any other free site prompts.

Post back here if you need further help with this.

Hi again, did you try what I suggested in my earlier reply and still don’t see the Skip purchase option? https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/#launch-your-site Do you get an error message of some sort?

I selected Skip Purchase and the following resulted:

It sounds like you added a plan to your cart and haven’t removed it from there, so you might be stuck in a loop.

I’ve flagged forum Staff to assist you. Thanks for your patience while they get back to this thread.

Number 1. Clicked Launch Site button
Number 2. Entered desired domain in the Choose a domain field.
Number 3. Selected Skip Purchase at the bottom of the page.
Number 4. Choose the right plan for you $5 per month or $15 per month

I AM NOT PAYING FOR THIS. YOU LIED FROM THE BEGINNING WHEN YOU CLAIMED IT WAS FREE.

WORDPRES IS A SCAM AND A FRAUD.

I WILL CANCEL THE ACCOUNT AND ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO AVOID WORDPRESS.

Did you overlook the link at the top of that same page to continue with a free site?

By the way, these forums are indexed by search engines and show up in search engine returns. Hope that helps.

I figured it out on my own. No thanks to the “experts”. Let’s see if I get billed for it, despite claims it is “free”.

Upgrade plans and add-ons are paid for when signing up for them. If you didn’t pay for an upgrade or add-on now, you won’t be billed for it later.
