Free Photo Library
-
When I tried to click for my featured image for my post, I couldn’t find the free photo library. Is it not available anymore for free WordPress accounts?
-
Hi there,
When you go to find new media there should be an option under the top image icon (the bigger one, not the smaller one). The option is called ‘Pexels free photos’.
Is this not working for you? -
What I see are 2 options only: UPLOAD FILES and MEDIA LIBRARY (images used for my articles), but in my mobile I can see the Pexel option though. I don’t know what is happening?

Hi there,
On my test site, I went to My Site > Site > Posts, created a post and went to add a featured image. This is the screenshot of the page I see, before I click on the image icon, and after:

This is the same as when I go directly to My Site > Site > Media. This definitely isn’t appearing for you, on a computer? If that’s the case, it could be a bug. I’ve tagged this thread for staff attention.
Please share this information, if possible:
Whether the same thing happens when you go directly to My Site > Site > Media
The URL of your site
Which browsers you’ve used to try to access the free photos library
What versions they are
Whether you have any extensions enabled on those browsers
And which operating system your computer uses. Thanks!
-
Yeah, that’s what appears before like last couple of weeks, but just last Saturday it became different. What do you mean by a bug? Like my computer has been bugged?
-
Not at all, issues like this appear on websites often. It could be a coding issue or a problem with your browser, which is why I suggested giving us that information so we can work out if that is playing a part in it.

Hi @matthewtyke2011, would you send a link to the editor page you’re using? Also, get a screenshot and upload it to your media library, then update us here.
-
Okay, so on My Site, I can upload photos from Pexels but not where I do my drafts. The URL of my site is matthewtyke.wordpress.com, and I have been using Chrome browser everytime I do my WordPress articles. Windows 10 is the OS of my computer.
-
So what you’re seeing when uploading media in drafts is similar to what I see at https://testsitevolunteer.files.wordpress.com/2020/06/featured-image-pexels-add.png, except without the ‘Pexels free photos‘ as the final option?
As @supernovia mentioned, if this isn’t what you’re seeing, please could you share a screenshot? The support document https://wordpress.com/support/make-a-screenshot/ explains how to do so if you’re not sure. -

https://matthewtyke.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2252&action=edit here it is, so sorry

Hi @matthewtyke2011,
As I am only a volunteer, I am unable to see the screenshots you shared the links to. In order for me to see them, please take a screenshot, upload it to your sites Media Library (at My Site > Site > Media) and copy the link. You can copy the link by clicking on the screenshot (after uploading it), clicking Edit (near to the upload icon), and, in the bottom right-hand corner, there is a link. Click this and then press ‘Copy’. Then share the URL of the screenshot on this thread.
The URL of the screenshot should look something like this:
https://matthewtyke.files.wordpress.com/2020/MONTH/IMAGE-NAME.png
If you want me to see the screenshot but can’t work out how to share the correct link, add the screenshot to a post and share the URL of the post itself — not the editor. Make sure the post is public. If you don’t want to do this, staff will still be able to assist.
-
Hm, that’s a different upload interface.
Please make sure that you’re following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/free-photo-library/ exactly.
-
-
No, the screenshot is fine.
My point is, the screenshot shows that you’re using the upload interface under /wp-admin/ when you need to use the one under /media
Please follow the steps exactly at https://wordpress.com/support/free-photo-library/

Okay, so in My Site, I don’t have any problem with uploading free photos from Pexels in Media and I can see them in my Media Library and I can use them when I wanted a photo in a block or set up a feature image. The reason why I posted a concern here because usually I just upload photos for my feature image in my editor until one time like the screenshot I sent you happened. It was just a little unusual that’s it. But thank you so much for carefully putting me in the process and I have realized now just because of this forum that I can just visit Media in My Site- Site to upload free photos. So sorry for the hassle. :(
