  I selected free plan but it took me to checkout with premium plan for $120

  Your site is currently on the free plan. You don’t have to complete the checkout to start working on your site. You can go ahead and start adding content an customizing your WordPress.com site.

  If you want, you can remove the items (the Premium plan and the domain) from the cart by clicking on the cart icon in the top right and clicking “Remove from cart.”
