Free plan good for how long? (slightly morbid)

    Hi, first, I’m in good health and there’s nothing wrong at this point, however I’m in my early 60’s and like everybody else, won’t be around forever.

    I have a personal recipe blog that I’ve been self-hosting at bupkis.org, however I want my recipes to outlive me because my friends enjoy them. To that end, I imported bupkis.org into terrycarmen.wordpress.com and it’s working nicely.

    So my question is, how long will it stay around after i’m gone? Does it get deleted automatically or is there a way to make it ‘sticky’?

    Custom domains need to be renewed annually to continue to show on the Interweb. If you have a free WordPress.com site that should stay around forever (or until the world ends/the Martians invade) even if you don’t ever add any further content.
    PS: At some point though there may well be significant enough changes to the Interweb that current themes may no longer be compatible but lets hope that is decades in the future.

    Thank you, that’s very cool, I never thought about archive.org!

    I know it sounds a little silly, but when I’m gone, I’d like to be remembered for the great times we all had with food and friends, and making a copy of the website that would outlast me, seemed nice.
