  Hi! I’m wondering if I can design a website using the free plan on WordPress.com for a hotel that allows users to search availability and book reservations. Please let me know! Thanks so much.

  The search ability you want is provided by a plugin and that means you need either a Business plan http://wordpress.com/pricing/ at WordPress.COM, or you need to look into moving to self hosted WordPress.

  If I’m not mistaken, the Stay theme has a reservation inquiry form as a part of the theme, but it is not a true booking form.

  If you want to have an editable calendar that shows events on your site, then there’s Google Calendar. https://en.support.wordpress.com/google-calendar/

  You can also link to an external booking/scheduling app service (like SimplyBook.me or Calendly.com) using a Custom Menu or a link in a widget in your site’s sidebar.
