Free site – only odd adresses?

    Hi. I want to add a new free site to my profile (I already have to sites). When I get to the part where I choose the sites adresse, I would like the free one, but I only find a strange adresse which is for free.
    In your support I read this: ‘When you sign up for an account, you have the option to select your site address. You can select the default, free, WordPress.com address (sometimes shown as yourgroovysite.home.blog, or yourgroovysite.food.blog), and you can change the “yourgroovysite” part of the address through Manage → Domains → Change Site Address.’

    Does that mean that the only free adresse I can get is one with ‘food’ in it..? From before I have to sites with only ‘myname.wordpress.com’.. Is that not an option anymore? ‘Anamethatipick.wordpress.com’? I want is as simple as possible, for instance ‘spire.wordpress.com’..

    It was explained at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/making-a-new-page-free/ that the address you’d prefer isn’t available. You can still get a free .wordpress.com address with a different prefix but you need to choose “Business” rather than “Blog” at step 1.
