Hi there!
You’ll need a WordPress.com plan to use a custom domain (including domains you already own) as the primary address. You can also collect payments from your visitors/customers via your site with a WordPress.com plan.
You mentioned square online. Do you need to use Square, or are you open to different gateways? I ask because our Payments integration works with Stripe. If you specifically need to use Square, you might need to upgrade to the WordPress.com Business plan to be able to use plugins on your site, which will allow you to add Square and other payment gateways.
Our Payments blocks work with the lower plans as well.
Can you tell us a little bit about your site? What’s the site for? Do you want to build an online store? We can share a more personalized suggestion once we know more about the site you’d like to build.

I make personalized pet memorials/keepsakes. I am creating a store but there are so many options that it will never be like a retail store.
I have square configured already but am not opposed to switching if it is similar in fee schedules.

I hope that made sense. I basically need a very customizable form for people to add to their cart and check out based on their selections. I also need them to be able to upload images during the order process. I’d be open to suggestions! Designing my functional and affordable site has been a challenge!

That does make sense, @companionpetmemorials. And as dog-mom to a sweet senior, it sounds like a very sweet service you’re offering.
You might like to use a plugin like this to have your customers “build” their purchase a step at a time. WooCommerce would also let you accept payments from Square, and you can add shipping plugins as well. Even if your store isn’t like a traditional in-person place, it’s a really great way to run a business that sells physical or even digital products. That would require the Business or eCommerce plan: the major difference between them is that eCommerce comes bundled with several premium plugins and WooCommerce already installed for you.
If you don’t want a full e-commerce solution yet and you’d just like your users to fill out a form, please note our built-in form block doesn’t allow uploads. But you could embed a Google form that accepts image uploads (here’s how). That could automatically put the data in a spreadsheet, too, if that’s helpful for how you manage your store.
Or it may be worth it to spring for the full-fledged e-commerce solution to start. So if you’re interested in that, I’d start here since you already have Square, and use their extension available here. Let us know how we can help!
