free the blogname again

when i chose a name for the new blog of my mom, my wordpressblog (daughter) was still open and came to exist under my wordpress. we deleted her blogname under my existing blog and wanted to make her own blog again. then we got the notification that the blogname already existed… how can we ‘free’ that blogname again? to be able to construct her blog as the idea was in the first place. thank you!

That’s not possible. You cannot register any deleted blog URL. One has to ignore at least three warnings stating that deletion is permanent and irreversible and then click a verification link in an email to delete a blog.

You can register another .wordpress.com blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
