  You don’t need to buy ya domain to use the WordPress.com Free plan. There is an option to use a free domain provided by WordPress.com during the site creation process.

  Yes, hosting with WordPress.com is absolutely free and we provide a free blog address with the site you create. You only pay if you decide you want additional features for your site via the various paid plans available:

  Those plans come with a custom domain credit that you can use in place of your blog address, but all of that is optional.
