Free tier AMP Issues – Started 1/14/2022
-
Starting in mid-January this year, I received emails from the Google Search Console about AMP errors on almost all of my posts (9 out of 11). My understanding is that on the free WordPress-hosted tier, AMP is either on or off and mine is set to On. The consequence of these errors is that Google says ‘AMP page is invalid. It won’t appear in Google Search results.’ Is there anything I can do to correct this? Thanks. The errors are:
The parent tag of tag ‘html’ must be ‘!doctype’.
The attribute tabindex is missing or incorrect, but required by the attribute ‘on’.
A mandatory attribute is missing from an HTML tag.
A tag on this page requires an AMP component ‘script’ tag, which is missing.
A mandatory AMP HTML tag is missing from this document.
Tag found outside the document head which is only allowed as a direct child of the document head.
Only amp-boilerplate and amp-custom ‘style’ tags are allowed, and only in the document head.
Custom JavaScript is not allowed.
Tag or text which is only allowed inside the body section found outside of the body section.
The attribute role is missing or incorrect, but required by the attribute ‘on’.WP.com: Yes

Hi,
AMP page is invalid
We’re that sometimes the tools will report AMP errors for various reasons. We have more info here:
https://wordpress.com/support/amp-accelerated-mobile-pages/#amp-errorsBut if it helps, the errors will mean that an AMP-specific version won’t be stored in Google’s AMP cache, the non-AMP version of your site is still available. And if the errors are bothersome, you can deactivate AMP for now, even on individual posts.
While we can’t promise to fix the errors, if you’d like, you can send a few links to posts and the errors you get on them. We’ll take note.
Hoping this helps!

Thank you for your reply. I will try turning off AMP and wait for the search console to realize that’s been done. I maybe try turning it back on later.
