Free-tier website not showing changes made in wordpress.

I created a website using WordPress .com.

    It is a FREE-tier website.

The website IS live on the web, but:

Now, when I make changes to existing pages IN WordPress, those changes do not show up on my live website. And I mean even minor things, like re-writing a text block. NOTHING changes on the actual website. I’ve used 3 different browsers and emptied the browser cache on all three. I’ve also tried this now on 3 different computers. All with the same result: NO changes to my website.

I’ve searched/googled and I know this is a ‘known issue’ BUT:

There seems to be NO fix/solution that works for a site on the FREE TIER.

    The ‘solutions’ I’ve found include:

    “Delete your wp cache”

    > But in order to do this, you apparently need to be on a paying tier.

When I followed instructions “Go to Settings >> Hosting Configuration >> click “empty Cache”

All I found was a page telling me I have to upgrade to a ‘business’ plan to access ANYthing on that panel. There was no ‘empty cache’ button available.

    > Other solutions found in help forums ALL involve emptying cache via a ‘plug-in’ or other 3rd party (paid) add-on,  but I HAVE NO PLUG-INS on this site.

ALL the forums and FAQs have these two same ‘solutions’ NEITHER of which work on a free-tier site.

And clicking “Contact support” just opens a ‘help window’ that NEVER LOADS (it has been open now for 15 minutes – still ‘loading’)

I’ve been using wordpress .com for over 10 years, both paid and free tiers. I’ve never encountered this before.

It seems crazy to me that the only way to get this website to actually function is to upgrade to a paid-tier. This also strikes me as unethical on WordPress’ part.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

https://visiontherapyunlimited.com/ can’t be a free site as it has a custom domain. If you have another free site be assured that you can make changes to your site. However it might help if you confirmed the full URL of the free site you are working on and what changes you wish to make. With some themes a paid upgrade is required to change colours and font etc but everyone can change text etc in posts and pages.

Thank you for the quick response. I appreciate your effort to help.

My friend did pay for the domain name, but when I click on “Upgrades” – where it shows the various Plans, the “Your Plan” indicator IS still in the “Free” column. So it seems certain to me that it is still a free-tier site.

I’m not trying to customize the site, or change colors or fonts etc. I was just trying to add a footer with site navigation. When THAT didn’t appear on the website, as a temporary fix I tired to just add Contact info to the bottom of the landing page as part of an already existing text block. Those changes DO show in the wordpress work area, but do not appear on the actual website.

As I said in the OP – I know this is a ‘known issue’ but the only 2 solutions I’ve seen offered are not available to free-tier websites. So, I’m still stumped.

    Hi there!

Can you share the exact places where you’re making changes that are not showing up? Please include links to the pages you’re working on so that we know exactly where to look to troubleshoot the issue further.

    Thanks!
