Free up deleted blog so I can use the name

    I want to create this blog: ilegal.wordpress.com but it is saying it is unavailable. I have checked and the original authors have actually deleted this blog. Can you free it up please so I can use it? My website is ilegal.org.uk and Twitter account is @ilegal so this is quite important to me in terms of branding etc. Many thanks for your help. Patrick

    The authors have deleted this site.

    I’m sorry but that’s not possible. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

    However, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

    Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

    Sorry but you are trying to do it way wrong – if you really want the “branding” to work – don’t come here and start a blog with ilegal.wordpress.com (yes you can’t do that) – what you should do is map your blog here as a Sub-Domain of your ilegal.org.uk name – then the name and web site look so much bigger – then it also does not really matter what the blog name is as it will be hidden from the public

    I have to laugh at how silly my original message must sound – I thought it was going to WordPress support in the more traditional sense of the word ‘support’. Oh well, I shouldn’t have been so quick with the ‘post’ button or whatever it was

    This IS WordPress.COM Support – most of the support is provided by unpaid volunteers and when we can’t help we ask the staff to help you – it is a cooperative effort by many people each with a bit different background and experience & interest – note above that you had answers from two people with two parts for you – and in the end you got the help you needed
