Free Upgrades/Support for Title I School Starting Newspaper

Hello,
I’m a new English teacher whose just found out that I’ll be teaching journalism this year! It has been many years since our school has offered journalism or had a school paper.
WordPress seems like a great hosting option for an online paper. Especially if we could have access to the upgraded features and support.
I’m writing to know if WordPress can provided a free or discounted rate for Title I schools. I teach at English High, a Boston Public School.
Unfortunately, we do not have extra money in the school budget for the journalism class. So, I’m in the process of searching for resources that are free or significantly reduced in price.
Any assistance or guidance you can offer would be much appreciated.

WordPress.COM does not have any discounts for anyone other than the bundles where there is a discount on popular upgrades put in a package – like a grocery store – buy an 8 pack of something and save money
Blogs on WordPress.COM are free – no extra cost required – the cost of “free” is they sometimes put ads on the blog to pay for the cost of the servers and the staff – some people don’t like the ads and buy the no ad upgrade for $ 30.–/ year (I do on the site linked to my name) – many people are not bothered by the ads – or they add a disclaimer on a blog about the ads (I did that for my cooking blog and a friends blog)
You might check Edu-Blogs – they are set up for teachers, but less storage space and seems to me the cost starts sooner – sorry can’t remember all the details
Support in the forum here is always free and if the unpaid volunteers can’t help we ask the staff to help you – most people go years and never ask a question
yes a good place for newspapers – even some themes that are set up special for news type things – 130++ free themes
What upgrades did you want?
Most people don’t have any upgrades on their blog
