Free versus paid plugin for email opt-in; pop-up forms; social share

  I’m building my first blog and have attempted to use a few free plugins to capture email addresses in a pop-up form. Elegant Themes appears to offer the perfect solution for what I’m looking for with Bloom, Monarch, etc. Are there any free plugins that work well for a non-techy? I’m currently planning to use mail poet, at least to get started. I welcome any feedback. Thank you!
