  If I switch to a paid plan through wordpress.com, would I own my domain name and have the ability to make revenue through affiliate marketing and advertising?

  If you already own a domain name, its your whether you switch to WordPress paid plan or not and yes you can definitely have the ability to make revenue via affiliate marketing.
