  Do I understand correctly that one may NOT have a their own domain name –without the wordpress extension–while using the FREE website?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I have a free website and my domain name doesn’t have the wordpress extension in it. When selecting a domain name I selected the one that I didn’t have to pay for, and it happened to be one that didn’t have ‘wordpress’ in it.

  If you want to register a custom domain name ending in .com or similar then a paid plan is required. You have created https://margaretmnicholson.home.blog/ which is a free site. If you’re happy with that address then it just needs launching.
  Make sure that after clicking the “Launch site” button that you leave blank the field at the top that says “Enter a name or keyword”. Instead just click on “skip purchase” at the bottom right next to your new free address.
